Every now and then when I turn my PC on, usually every other day or so sometimes several times a day. My screen will not display and my keyboard and mouse won't light up. I always have to hard reset (hold off button) and restart sometimes I have to do it several times. Any idea what this could be?

I am getting a similar problem. black screen on start up with a blinking white curser in the top left hand corner. once I reset the pc windows 'usually' starts normally. though lately I have been having crashing and shutdown issues. doesn't help you out snook, though I would be interested in a fix.

I would have suspected PSU or mobo but they're both solid components. Thats not to say the psu isnt cutting out during cold boot or heavy load/no load due to under volting, is there any capacitor squeal from the PSU? All components from OCUK, i think you would do well contacting them, they would probably help you out considering they supplied everything. Try running memtest too

I used to have an MSI board that wouldn't boot if a mouse and key board plugged in, a bios update fixed that.

I have the gaming 5 gigabyte board and that does on occasion have a cursor blink on screen for a while before windows loads. this happens more often that not after a windows update, what OS are you both running?

you both have gigabyte boards with dual BIOS so trying to update the BIOS might be worth a try.

failing that do as fleshwerk says and contact OCUK

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 I think this is a known issue with the fast boot option. First time I experienced it, I googled it and found the fix was to disable the fast boot. With a SSD boot times are fast enough anyway.
Just a thought that might be worth checking :)

Forgot about this thread sorry. My issue has been solved now as I have changed my board and CPU as well as a fresh install so sadly I can't help discover the issue as it could have been software or hardware.

Im operating windows 7. I am getting real bad problems now even when i can get the PC to boot, display drivers not working correctly. screen goes all different colours and eventually just dies. I am going to take out my graphics card tonight and just go on-board to see if that fixes the problem, might be graphics card problem then? it has a years warranty. not sure obviously.

Took the graphics card out this morning. switched to onboard and the PC ran like a dream. must just be a graphics card issue. it has a years warranty so it should be ok. big thanks to all who gave advice. hopefully ill be back running at full tilt soon.
