PC Speaker Advice

Hello guys

I was wanting some advice / guidance for some PC speakers. Looking to spend around the £200 mark but can increase my budget slightly.
This is my desk setup. I'm looking at recommendations for both active and passive speaker setups.

The main purpose is for music as I use my headset for gaming mainly.

Edifier M60, very compact, sound VERY good indeed for the size and go a LOT louder than you'd expect before they lose their grip on the sound quality.
£160 currently.
Come in black, white or wood effect wrap/veneer.

*update the firmware though as there's been some new revisions recently.

Can you switch between inputs easily too? So for example I can have audio from the PC, but then if needed can I stream from my phone to them via bluetooth?

Yes they have bluetooth for streaming , analog and usb-c inputs.
Touch sensitive controls on top of the speaker, or control them from smartphone app.

They don't have analogue or USB output though so you can't plug headphones into them though. So you'd have to connect your headphones to the pc via analogue or USB.
I'm not sure if they can stream Bluetooth audio out, I think just receive.. But I've not checked.

But for a very compact desktop speaker set, they are very musical and good sounding.

Yeah thats fine. I use USB wired headphones (Steelseries) direct to the PC. If the audio is decent quality then its a win for me

I'm super happy with them.. Due to limited desk space I wanted some speakers as small as possible whilst still sounding really good, and they totally fit the bill for me.

I had some bother with them initially as they were a bit boomy around the 125-130hz range but a firmware update fixed that.

I can't think of an active speaker system I'd want to swap them for now, honestly... Not without getting bigger speakers anyway and I don't want bigger speakers on the desk.

The audio cable from the active speaker to the other one might be a little bit on the short side for a dual monitor set up, so check that out.. It's a 'din' style plug rather than your standard 3.5mm headphone extension type cable so you may need to look at a longer cable, depending.

ok, thank you for the advice. I'll bare that in mind in terms of the cable length if I go for it. They sound good pardon the pun
 
I went active speakers and a DAC.

JBL LSR305 and a SMSL C200 DAC.

Sound quality is excellent, the DAC has multiple inputs such as optical, usb, Bluetooth.

Can switch between wired headphones (front connection) or speaker output on the remote etc with a single press.

Though the footprint of these is quite large, a smaller set is starting to feel a little more appealing...
 
Anyway to rejig the desk setup. It doesn't look like it would be ideal for placing speakers. You have the case at the right and then a second screen at the left. :( Would a soundbar perhaps be a better option here?
