hi guys, just wondering if any1 could spec me a pc for gaming for £600 maximum, id like it to have a quadcore processor for sure.

Here you go you got your quad-core with long warranty, your 500gb storage, the graphics card is decent and you have the option to go crossfire later on for future proofing, hope this helps abit :).

thanks for the feedback, atm im using a duelcore 2.3ghz intel processor 4gb ram 9600gt gfx card. i quit playing most games and full time play bad company 2 now, but having to put the game into the lowest settings and dx9 is a pain :( i will keep inmind the spec that has been posted wont be buying my pc build until end of month tho, hopefully things could be a bit cheaper.

Assuming you already have a monitor, a computer case you can gut, a hard drive and DVD-RW, I would go for:-

Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AMD 890GX (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard - compatible with the new six-core processors if you want to drop one in at a later date, also you can fit a second graphics card, has USB3, etc, etc.

AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 555 3.20GHz Black Edition (Socket AM3) - not a quad core but most can be unlocked to work on three or four cores. People are reporting 4GHz overclocked and unlocked in the 890 chipset but you will need to additionally budget for a good after market cooler; the AMD one is crap.

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit - I would check the compatibility but this seems to be what overclockers use in their overclocked AMD builds.

OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent Power Supply

Asus ATI Radeon HD 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Price including VAT and postage is £606

I tried to go for a build based around the ATI HD5850 that's relatively future-proof with the Phenom 555 as a stopgap; if you want to go the Intel route you would need to use an X58 board for later compatibility with intel six-core. If you want to avoid the hassle of overclocking there are tri and quad core budget AMDs that you could go for, instead.

I like nWovance's choices of case, hard drive, DVD-RW and the cooler.

The Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H only does asymmetrical Crossfire.

The OP should read this article:

Also if the OP intends to overclock the Core i5 750 they should be looking at a better motherboard. The motherboard only has a 4+1 phase VRM with no cooling.

I would also be looking at getting the 1GB version of the HD5770 too when the cheaper one is back in stock:
