Hello, im new on this forum - been lurking for a while, figured i'd join 'cos my sisters bf is thinking of getting a new pc.
Wondering if you might be able to impart some of your educated advice on what best to get. Budget is 650 - dont need speakers, keyboard or mouse.

This is a rough idea, of what he might be able to get - would there be any problems with this spec? (all items are from this site)

-PSU & Case: 450 watt, Antec Sonata 2 (66.92)
-CPU: Athlon 3000+ (76.32)
-Motherboard:MSI K9n 550 (64.57)
-RAM: Samsung 1GB (76.32)
-GFX: His Excalibur x1800 (141)
-Monitor: Hyundai imagequest lcd (150)
-CD drive: (20)
-HDD: Seagate Barracuda 80gb (35.19)

That works out at roughly 630 - without windows or anything -
anyone lend a hand?

Welcome to the forum. I'm assuming from your post that you need a copy of Windows as well? If so this is what I would go for. I don't know anything about the monitor but the specifications seem pretty decent and some of the generic monitors aren't too bad at all in terms of quality.

Thanks guys, that all seems pretty sweet.
It's good to have a general idea of what you can get for around that
sort of price range - probably order sooooon.
