Erm, at a computer.
I think its about time i upgraded as my AMD 3200+ feels abit tired. I would appreciate if somebody with abit more knowledge than me could have a look at what im thinking of getting and throw in any comments / suggestions.

Ive done some researchiong but found it all a bit baffling to be honest. I know abit as i have built my previous 2 machines, but i aint been keeping up with recent developments.

Anyway im thinking of getting this lot

Machine will be used for gaming, work ( Just MS office 2007) and abit of video encoding.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

eclipse and the mirage are the same more or less expect the mirage has a door :) i chose the mirage because in my opinion it makes the case look a bit more sleek

Pretty decent spec, although I'll make a few suggestions:-

First off, for £3's more you can get the "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" Q6600, which runs cooler and therefore has more overclocking potential.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
£151.99
£178.59 inc VAT

Also RAM wise, you can get the same speed run for cheaper, for example;

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4
£46.99
£55.21 inc VAT

OR

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4
£54.99
£64.61 inc VAT

The Crucial ballistix have great overclock potential, 1000+MHz fairly comfortably.

I also noticed the case chose being out of stock, and I'd also suggest maybe getting a Antec P182 which is cheaper:

Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case
£69.99
£82.24 inc VAT

Great looking, plenty of room and excellent for cable management and also has sound dampening features.

I'd also look at the WD AAKS range of hard drives, extremely quick, reliable and silent:

Western Digital Caviar SE16 400GB 4000AAKS
£45.99
£54.04 inc VAT

You also might want to consider buying a more beefier cpu cooler, the ACF7 Pro is more of a budget cooler and not really recommended for Quads, this is more so if your considering to overclock at all, a few suggestions:

Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler
£34.99
£41.11 inc VAT

Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler
£33.99
£39.94 inc VAT

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler
+120mm fan off your choice.

went for budget cooling because the post didnt say whether OC-ing was on the cards :p

truebluecfc is a better spec but some overclocking would be needed

i believe so, due to the fact they produce less heat, if you are overclocking, take my spec and make the changes truebluecfc said :)
