Pc Stratagy game Recommendations

Hi all. this is probably a question that has been asked 666 million times already

I recenly brough a new pc rig, and it is my first proper gaming pc

I was looking for games to get with it. I mainly played things like stratagy games when i was younger (command and conquer, starcraft, anno 1602 etc)

Can you lot recommend any good stratagy games that I can try out on my new beast?
 
If your an anno fan grab anno 1800 best of the series imo.

Ww2 hearts of iron 4 or gates of hell osfront.

Fantasy/sci fi stellaris, endless space 2 and total war war hammer 3.

Supreme Commander 2 was good (particularly with mods that brought back the scale of the previous game and increased the unit cap), though I've not played in a few years so not sure how the mod scene is going.

As mentioned by Emo_hug, Riftbreaker is also good (and Beyond All Reason does look interesting)

Worth noting Mindustry is also free direct from them (not a demo, the entire game) if anyone wants to try it out.

@Spannerhead While not new, if you've not played them Dawn of War 1 & 2 (probably not 3)

There's also a Star Trek Armada 3 mod for Sins of a Solar Empire. I'd +1 for anno 1800 if you liked the logistical city builder, though IIRC the older ones had more to the combat. I vaguely recall ground units and castles, which aren't in the new ones. There are air units though, and ships.

Curve ball - factorio, logistical management while defending from alien attacks, strategy is mostly the logistics though.

If you want some C&C vibes then try games like Supreme commander and Singularity of the Ashes. I'd highly recommend them. Definitely the first supreme commander, the vast map and units you can build is quite breath taking when you're commanding a few hundred units at a time.

Mods are still going strong, they recently released a map generator also that sprooses things uo
have a look at "Sanctuary: Shattered Sun" its being done by the mod team whos been doing SupCom FAF

if you like BAR give Zero-K a try also.



There is also "Planetary Annihilation" which is across plannets.

Saunctuary looks good, got it added to my Steam wishlist now - thanks! And good to know about the SupCom 2 community. I know most people prefer FA, but I did find that a lot of the optimisations they added for 2 really helped the flow of the game once the right mods were installed.

I backed PA on Kickstarter, did spend some time playing it but that was at a time when my gaming time really fell away to very little so I didn't spend as long with it as I would have liked.. it was a good concept and I really liked what I played, keep telling myself I need to start with the Titans version.


So many games, so little time :cry:
 
Don't think this has been mentioned, but Age of Empires series is pretty good, from 2 onwards.
Also Humankind looks interesting, not tried it myself though.
