Hi,
I have an Asus Xonar D2 hooked to Creative 5.1 Gigaworks. The speakers are only about 3 years old but are now broke :( Although I think it's only the subwoofer instead of all 5 speakers broke.

I've always wanted to get surround sound from my Playstation 3 out of the speakers, so what do you all think I should do next? Is it possible to buy a new different model subwoofer and also a receiver to decode the opical input from the PS3?

Yup, sounds like you could by a separate amp and sub and use your remaining satellites.

Dunno what your budget is, but the Onkyo SR606 (~£340) is probably 'the' best budget amp around at the moment - and would do what you're asking superbly! :D

My budget is more like £100 for both things :( Any more than that and I may as well buy the Z-5500.

Thing is, I have a receiver downstairs that decodes the 360's optical audio to surround sound fine, and that setup was just £200.

Do you have any other ideas?

Could try contacting Creative to see if they supply separate components?

I'm sure there probably are more basic receivers that could do the job - can't think of any off-hand though i'm afraid!

Well the green light still comes on on the unit and the controller, so I don't think it's the fuse. Although many people with the 7.1 version have had a problem with fuses blowing.
