Pc just swictched on this morning around 4am on it's own for around 10 secs and switched off, so i got up and booted the pc and because the pc is in the bedroom.
Since i've been writing this post, the pc did a windows shut down on it's own, once, so booted it up and it's still up, can it be the psu that is breaking down or something else?
I have a switch inbetween my router and pc, and that was switched off, no power to it, so no signal getting from the router, the pc setup is from March 2012, so the pc is getting old.
This is the psu
Corsair Professional Series AX750 High Performance 750W Modular '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply (CMPSU-750AXUK)

If it was the psu what is a good replacement?

P.s my pc motherboard is ga-z68x-ud3h-b3

Ok I took out the gpu card, monitor is plugged into mother board, soon as I turn on psu the pc goes into a boot loop, there is no hard drives plugged in, just keeps trying to boot, I also swapped the ram and still doing it, any help.

Yes done the cmos reset short the 2 pins, and still boot loop, soon as I turn on psu the motherboard tries to boot which it should not do, it does not let me power it on the front.

I manage to find a psu and tested the board without gpu and ram, it didn't even beep at me, just powered up and shut down a second later, so looks like motherboard is bad or a corrupted bios, looking more I'll be getting a new pc, and a great time for it to die on me, xmas is just a week away.

A bit of an "out there" suggestion, but maybe the on off button is faulty, thus making it turn on and off continuously

have you tried resetting the CMOS? If not, that's your first thing to do.
Maybe it needs bedding in, eh? :p

But seriously OP, could be corrupt BIOS. This board has dual BIOS and the best thing is to is reload from backup BIOS. I had a similar problem with a bootlooping gaZ77-d3h and had to load backup BIOS. Method 2 worked for me.

Method #1:
1. Shut PC down
2. Hold the power button until the PC starts and shuts down again
3. Press the power button again, your backup BIOS should kick in.

Method #2:
1. Shut PC down
2. Press the reset button and then the power button and hold them down for over 10 sec, then release.
3. PC will start.
4. Backup BIOS should kick in.

Method #3:
1: Shut PC down.
2. Short out pins 1 and 6 on the main BIOS chip (pin #1 should be marked with a red dot )
2. Press the power on button
3. Stop shorting pins 1 and 6 as soon as you hear a beep.
4. Backup BIOS should kick in.

Dont go banging keys when you start the PC, be patient for a minute or so. And if it doesn't work at first, try a couple more times. Method #2 worked for me after a couple of tries.
Good luck.

Got it out of boot loop twice this morning now, it's sat in bios screen, after this second boot loop, I got some can air out and give it a good blow out, see if that made any difference, and also running with internal vid taken gpu out.

Ok can you work this one out, I disconnected the power switch lead from the motherboard, that stopped it boot looping once I turned on the psu would not turn itself on, I then turned psu off, plugged power switch lead back onto the motherboard and again it's doing boot loop.
I have a multi meter which can test resistance, so I unplugged the power switch lead from motherboard and tested the switch for a resistance without me pressing the button and it was showing some resistance, which it should not have.
So I check the reset switch lead and button that was not showing no resistance, like it should not be, so these 2 buttons are the same really just shorts a wire, so I thought use the reset lead as the power button lead and lo and behold pc is now in the bios for the last 30mins, i am leaving it like that till I goto bed, see if anything happens, just as 2 sticks of ram and cpu on the motherboard nothing else plugged in.

It's looking good so far, my system as not rebooted, it's holding stable at almost 6 hours, now I need to fix the power switch proper, not sure where I can get a power switch this side of new year, anyone got any thoughts?

Well not sure I can find a replacement switch before new year, so I used some switch cleaner and it seems to have cleared the resistance, when checking the switch with multi meter again, I'll keep a eye on it may be check that switch in a week or so again. Now to get the bios settings back to what they were.

Well another update on this subject, so early this morning it started doing a reboot loop again, woke up and turned off psu around the back of case till later in the morning, and just had a look at that bad switch and it is permanently dead, just tested it with a multi meter and it's always open circuit.
So now i'm using the reset switch as the power switch for a temp fix, untill i can get my hands on another switch.
When i did manage to boot the system the bios was corrupt, lucky i got a gigabyte dual bios.
