PC Tax - Nooooooo!

It comes as no surprise whatsoever with this bunch. They are also considering taxing us for emptying our bins, something that we already pay for in council tax.

They can't help themsleves, never trust a socialist. :p

tbh, if I have a TV licence that should cover watching TV from my PC too!

It does. :)

Any equipment capable of receiving a TV signal requires a license and at home this includes PC's. The problem the BBC is facing is that people are looking to PC's instead of traditional TV setup to avoid paying the license, or downloading TV series off the 'net.

This could be very hard to do, because surley they have to prove im using my PC to recieve TV before they can charge me anything?

no

you just have to OWN a TV, not even plugged in, to require a licence.

Thats not true, You can own a TV legaly without a TV license as long as you just use if for console games/dvd play back.. As far as I understand you just have to disable the reciver bit. How you do that no idea.

why not implement a scheme where you can opt out of getting the bbc and then not pay the license - that would make me happy - a complete waste of money the bbc, i never watch it!

its stupid really, if anything bbc should get there act together and have online tv content tied into tv licence so you cant access it. im sure this will infringe on some civil or human rights somewhere.

If your TV signal (terrestrial, satellite or cable) receiving equipment (TV or capture card) is detuned / in a box / in the fish tank, you can probably get away without requiring a licence.
