Hi all,

Just built my first PC and it works (build thread and picture to come)

One question how do i see how it performs? Any test i can do to check it works ok?

Many thanks

Welcome to the forums :)

Sure just download and run both HWMonitor and prime95 togther to check for system/CPU temperatures at load respectively. Use furMark for GPU.

Once you're happy with the stability, there are various programs to run perfomance and HW checks. CustomPC have their own media benchmarks and some games, such as Crysis, have their own gaming benchmarks.

Yep run the HW application and run Prime95 at the same time.

Some run instruction for prime95 are here:
http://www.playtool.com/pages/prime95/prime95.html

Takes just a few moments to set up.

Let Prime95 torture your sysem for about 30 minutes but keep an eye out for the temps in HWmonitor for the first 5. You'll see the temperatures start to rise quite dramatically at first until they establish a comfortable plateau. Ideally, make sure this doesn't go above say 65oc.

Prime95 will also abort if there are any problems.

If after half an hour it's still running and the temperatures remain at a steady rate, then the test is complete. Repeat the process for any overclocking you may do at a leter point.

Take a screen shot of the process before ending and post up here :)

Check for Small FFTs first for 30 minutes, then repeat using the blend, again for 30 minutes. The later tests the RAM as well as the CPU.

That way your are checking the CPU in greater details before the RAM (both need RAm anyway but the first test not as much). If the blend test fails but the Small FFTs doesn't then it suggests a memory problems.

Another tip, Hit CTL-ALT-DEL and bring up the system performance screen in task manager. That way you can see both CPU and RAM activity trends whilst all this is going on.

Hope that helps :)

I have a 750W Corsair and the standard fans(c3) in a Corsair 650T - these only spin at 200rpm max

No overclocking. Temp doesnt go higher than 80 for the intel core

SYSTIN 30c
cputin 0c
auxtin 64c

Thanks again!

instead of furmark i'd recommend using the graphics card test in OCCT. furmark is good for checking the temperature doesnt go too high, but OCCT will record all graphical errors. what seemed like a perfectly stable graphics card overclock on furmark turned out to get quite a few errors on OCCT. OCCT is still very good for temperature checking too

Agreed - That's way to low// Check your BIOS for fan speed settings. It may be set to a low profile. Failing that reset the CMOS. Check your motherboard manual for details.

Let us know how that goes.

edit - unless you mean 1000 to 1200 rpm ;)
