I recently got a 32inch LCD HDTV on the mm. It's a Samsung LE32R41BDX
My graphics card is an HIS 3870x2. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable.
However when I select the 1080i resolution (1920x1080), the image quality I get is really bad. Is there any workaround to fix this?

Specs of the tv as follows:Specs:
• XGA 1366 x 768 Resolution
• HDMI Input Connection
• Component video input (YPbPr) accepting 720P & 1080i input
• Box Dimensions: Length 90cm Width 75cm Height 23cm
• HD ready
• 800:1 Contrast ratio
• DNIe picture enhancement
• PC input - D-Sub, PC audio In
• Nicam stereo
• SRS TruSurround XT
• IDTV - Freeview digital tuner
• 16:9 screen
• Viewing angle 170 x 170 Degrees
• Brightness sensor
• HDMi input
• 2 x SCARTs, 1 x component in, 1 x video in
• 1 x S-Video in, Headphone out
• Power supply built in.

Hey mate, you need to use the TV's VGA port if you want to use it with a PC, that way you can run it at its native resolution of 1366x768, when using DVI - HDMI you'll have overscan issues ;)

it could possibly be the scaler in the tv as 1080p isnt its native resolution. native is the best - 1366x768 if it is selectable. 720p would be the next choice. 1080i/p on a screen that doesnt have a native resolution of 1920x1080 is usually a waste of time:)

What about 1360 x768 with 3 pixels each side or 6 pixels to the left or right depending on screen if he cannot get 1366 and the 1920 x1080 will be inerlaced

I used the TV's VGA at first, but didnt really like the 1366x768 resolution, its a bit too big for the screen. I wish to run it on the native 1080i

The screen isnt 'native 1080i', it's native 1366 x 768 (progressive). You should be running it in 1360*768 in 1:1 mode (a.k.a. just scan) and then there will be no scaling at all. Any time the scaler is brought into play there's going to be a loss in quality. When using 1080i you're asking your PC to output interlaced (nasty to start with), then your screen to reform that back into 1080 lines and then to downscale that to 1366*768.

edit:beaten to it :)
