PC to TV HD Help

I have a 42" LG HD Plasma TV that I've connected my PC to via HDMI out from my graphics card. The native resolution seems to be very low at 1024x768 - if I raise this to 1980x1200, the screen goes dark in colour and the quality is poor. Ive looked at LGs site and it says the highest support resolution is 1024x768, but I thought this was via the VGA input not HDMI?

Surely to watch blu-ray movies at their best I need the TV setup to full 1080p resolution, but I don't seem to be able to set this without the quality being reduced.

Any ideas?

So it would appear your TV is a 720p TV and not a 1080p TV? That would be the reason why you cant set it to a 1080p resolution.

you dont want to set it to 1980x1200, you need to set it to 1920x1080.

aslo double check you tv is "full hd" and not just "hd ready"

As posted above it appears that you have a 720p/1080i tv, not a 1080p. If you link one of us to the TV im sure somebody could confirm this for you.

Most likely a 1366x768 resolution you need to go for in that case. see if it appears on the settings of your gfx card panel. Which card do you have?
