No speaker you can attach externally? From a chassis or anything? Spare RAM is presumably a no no?

Spare PSU to try?

psu is good - tried it in another machine.
same for the ram.

really got me baffled this one.

Could be a CPU or motherboard problem then....No way you can try the CPU anywhere else? Or a working CPU in the board?

And presumably you don't have a speaker you can attach?

yeah fans spin.

when the hard drive etc are in the all power up.

Try and keep everything to minimum rather than attaching hard drive / cd-roms etc.
