PC Turning off when gaming

just remember that a 650 w psu does not give you 650w. If it is a bronze psu it will only give you around 520 watts and this is pushing your psu to the limit and will probably be the reason why under full loads you will have your pc shutting down,

I thought it was the other way round (at least with decent brand PSUs)?

so a 650w would deliver 650w max continuous wattage, but draw more from the wall (650/0.80, for base 80+ spec, = 812.5w @ the wall socket?)

I had 8800GT SLI back in the day on a 550w PSU and that would suddenly shut down while playing games too.

Bought a higher wattage PSU and never shutdown on me again.

Yeah, that's how i thought it worked. Surely they couldn't advertise and sell as a 650W psu if it didn't supply that approximate wattage.

This is how i understood it as well.

Hey guys all sorted. Bigger power supply did the trick. Big Thank you all.

:) Glad you got it sorted.

Never skimp on the power supply. Think of it as the beating heart of your rig. It is always worth spending more than you intend to on a power supply.
