I think if I do buy an R9 290 then I'm definitely gonna need to upgrade my PSU, Honestly I forget if I have a 550w or a 650w... I don't remember for some reason!

I'm just wondering if it's worth buying the 290 because it is pretty powerful! Are there any cheaper alternatives because I only have the one monitor, just trying to see if it's worth me spending all the money if it's not gonna be fully utilised!

I have to say the 280X is very tempting, I mean it's 3gig which is more than the Nvidia and comes in at a fiver less? I like me the sounds of that for sure!!

Yes the 280X is a good card for the money, and should be fine for a single monitor.
A 550W/650W psu will be enough for a 280X and 4670K. You just need to make sure it is a good brand though.

I know mine isn't a good brand at all, probably one of the only components I've ever skimped out on to be honest! I'll open up my PC and have a butch and how much it puts out!

The 280x is much better value for money, can mine more efficiently, and has better mantle support..

also if your psu isnt a good brand that has a million reviews then its not worth keeping, yours doesnt sound like its worth keeping

Yeah it's probably worth upgrading now because if it ever does die it's gonna be a pain trying to find a good one that I can get quickly!

Also going slightly off topic here, I always hear about these litecoin or bitcoin mining but I don't really know too much about it, what exactly is the benefit of it?

Something like that would be good. The psu and gpu are due in stock this Friday.

Are you looking to go crossfire in the future ? As you would need a bigger psu if so.

I can't help you on the Mining thing as I have no idea myself :D There is a thread here though - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18281512&highlight=mining

bradin minings just this craze where you make money as a slave pc.. if your intention is gaming you prolly wont mine. people who mine make good profit but only with like 3 290s

Thanks for the link to the thread! It all seems a bit over my head so I think I'll give that a miss and stick to playing Games :P

That PSU look's like it'll do the job very nicely! I think aside from the RAM that is definitely gonna be my build when I can gather up the funds, I would like my RAM to match everything else but I've literally not long bought the HyperX RAM so I feel like it would be a bit of a waste :(

The Ram and Window idea was just another option as you said you would have gone for that. If you are keeping your case non windowed then drop the ram from my spec :)

I suppose the beauty of it is, I can always just buy the window and Ram whenever I feel like it as it's not a bit deal it's all about making it look nice :P

Unfortunately I can't buy this right now so I'll have to wait a couple weeks at least before I can buy the components, and then maybe I can make a bit of money selling my old parts afterwards to sort of cut the costs down even more!

I will do! Thanks for all your help guys, I haven't really been keeping up to date with the latest Graphics Cards to be honest I've been pretty lazy in that respect haha!

I honestly was gonna go for a GTX 770 or 780 but looking at it now I can get more performance for even less cost! Also I think my Nvidia fanboy friends got to me a little... haha! :)
