PC Upgrade Help

Case at the moment is a mid tower cooler master one that came with the PC. Nothing fancy and don’t think it’s actually designed for gaming hence looking for a new one
which one exactly.
i wouldn't be taken in by all these "gaming" PR stunts. there's zero diference between a "gaming" case and a "normal" case as long as the ventilation is good.
as i said, if you don't know the exact model just take a few pics of it so we can see if it should be reused
a new case is £40-80 quid - and if you don't need a new case, that's a sizeable sum that can be better used to get a better cpu/gpu - you know, the stuff that actually matters ;)

The psu could do with replacing as well. The CX 500 is going back to when the CX series were rubbish with poor quality internals. The 12v rail is only 408w on the first two revisions and 456w on the final revision before being replaced by the massively better Great Wall built CX550 units. The CX500 was only rated at a pathetic 30 degrees C as well.

Excuse the poor cable management, will be tidied up when I upgrade

Not the best case in the world but it should work just fine for now, you could switch it out later if you wanted when you had the cash. I'd keep it for the time being, maybe switch that exhaust fan for something larger.

I've tried getting a bigger fan but there's not much room to fit it in :/

The one in there looks like an 80mm, judging from the mount it should fit a 92mm, although the sizes look a little off. Very oddly sized exhaust, it looks like there's intended screw holes in the metal plate for a larger fan which weren't cut out.

Regardless, I'd be looking at something along these lines:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £587.91 (includes shipping: £0.00)

You could consider dropping down to an RX580 for £160 if you want to save some cash, such as the following:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £158.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

The PSU I've listed is a decent budget offering, but I'd consider spending a little more on something with a better warranty and internals.

You could start with the GPU and you'd see some improvement, as I mentioned earlier the 1050ti is quite weak. My 3770K manages an RX580 fine when it's at stock, there's only 5-10% between it and a 2600 in reality, although I mostly play single player or small squad based games. Heavy multiplayer may see more of an impact, but that will be solved by the rest of your system being switched out.

@tamzzy It looks like there is in the second picture.

in general...this is what i'd get as a phased upgrade for £600-700

phase 1: GPU + PSU (£255)
1660 super £200 - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pali...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-053-pl.html
coolermaster masterwatt 550w bronze modular £55 - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cool...onze-semi-modular-power-supply-ca-37l-cm.html

phase 2: core (£333)
ryzen 3600 £180 - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...-3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-blac-my-0a2-tg.html
msi b450 mortar max £93 - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-b450m-mortar-max-socket-am4-ddr4-matx-motherboard-mb-348-ms.html
16gb 3200c16 ram £60 - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...-3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-blac-my-0a2-tg.html

reuse your case, ssd and hdd

of course, depending on when you get the parts...prices may fluctuate...but in general...these are the rough ballpark components

@BeeRad is there a fan at the front of the case?

i concur with what @Gray2233 says. keep the current case for now ;)

yeah I have a Corsair Air Series AF120 fan in front.

The rear fan looks like it was just screwed there by the person I got the PC from. It does have mounts to put another fan but can only fine 120mm fans to fit.

Appreciate both your help on this, has gave me much more knowledge on parts etc! If you ever play MW or CSGO hit me up haha

I wouldn't spend the earth given you intend to replace your case anyway, and the hardware you intend on running wont generate a lot of heat.

The F9 suggested by @tamzzy would be ample.

again, purely from the value/performance perspective, changing cases is silly - it doesn't gain you additional fps or longevity
i wouldn't.

If you want to get a new case at some point you could, the 275R is solid and it looks good. I wouldn't make it a priority though, wait until you've upgraded your rigs internals before looking at new cases.

@tamzzy @Gray2233 - noted! I’ve supposed I’m the only one looking at it, one of the reasons I got into PC gaming is because some of the builds I saw looked awesome but what you’ve both said makes sense

@BeeRad you aren't looking at the case whilst you game. food for thought :)

also...any aesthetic features should be the icing on the cake. not icing instead of the cake.
those "awesome builds" that you see probably also had top of the line components in them, and then the additional budget spent on making it look fanciful

no point having a omg-rgb-discoball-watercool build when it cannot even run counterstrike at 60fps
