Hi all,

I posted a little while back to get a rig specced, but fell short of funds when I came to buy. Now I has fundage, and would like to upgrade my PC.

I have an ASUS 560Ti which I would like to keep, and a decent PSU. Need ta new MB, CPU, Ram & SSD. Primary use is for gaming. I have an Antec 900 case, have considered replacements, but not if it sacrifices build quality of components.

I have a budget of 5-700, obviously the lower I can achieve what I want, the better :) Not ventured in w\c before, and not really feeling brave enough to yet. O\C wise, not looking to massively clock anything, as I want a rig that can hopefully game happily for 4-5 years. Massive oc's tend to restrict this type of lifespan :D

Any questions / options please :)
 
when you sayt a larger case,, the 900 is a pretty big case :)

Agree i7 not needed, but I would have thought an unlocked i5 would go better?

also agree, 16GB of ram is overkill, 8GB should be fine?
 
Re my last post - i missed the "k" on the cpu.

Good to see you both picked same cpu & ssd, looks like a nice clear choice there :) Looks like Gigabyte are still the winners for the motherboard contender, nice to see as I do like their products.

My psu is a thermaltake toughpower 750W. It could run SLi, but i don't really want to spend twice the money on gcards to not get twice the bang, would rather just wait a few years and upgrade then if i have to..

I was looking at either the H80 or maybe even the H100 by corsair for a heatsink, or would this be overkill if i'm not going to melt my cpu?
 
Soo, I can upgrade the SSD to the 840, as it's on discount this weekend, it's cheaper than the 830.

How reliable is the Z77X-D3H / Z77-D3H for stable overclocking? I was considering the Z77X-UD5H but if I can save around £60, it's a winner.
I've been tempted by cases, I really like the stealth cabling options on the 800D, but it's a massive beast, and quite costly. As i'm not going to be water cooling, I wouldn't really benefit from the size. Is there a similar case that I could do a nice tidy install, but not as large? A dust filter would be an added bonus. :D

Also, for some icing on this cake, could I get a recommendation for a 2.1 set for gaming? Trying to stick < £100 for speakers.

Edit: If I can O/C well using the Z77-D3H, it's definiately looking good, I won't e using SLi.

The cable runs on the BitFenix do not seem to be any improvement on my currennt Antec 900, thanks for the options tho.

If the Z77-D3H truly is that good for an o/c, it'd do me nicely, as I don't intend to go much over4.
 
OK, so how's this little lot below looking?

Would the H80i run silent, or is it even worth looking at the H100i? I've looked around the forum and the 650D should fit the larger cooler from the top.

If this build is all good to finish, should I change any fans on the case?

Not a bad thought...hadn't actually considered how the MB would look :D

The Z77X-D3H does look kinda nice in black, would compliment the case quite nicely.

Still need some speakers...will post in sound forum...
