PC will boot but not post

I meant its not going to fix the problem, but it might give an idea of whats wrong.

Electrolytic capacitor's can show if they are faulty when heat is put upon them says my step dad, so ill take his word for it given that hes a Granada qualified technician.

But obviously going to try the easiest options first anyway.
 
Failing to post can be any number of component problems. Thats the point of POST.

Fit a speaker. Strip down to mobo, CPU and fan. Add one component at a time. Check for post bleep at every stage.

My year old build failed to post recently and it turned out to be the ram. Tried a mates and it worked so I bought a new 4 Gig set and upgraded to win 7 64. Happy days.
