Hi guys...

I went to turn my PC on today, it got into Windows and then turned itself off.

I started it again and power comes on, the waterpumps fire up and the lights on the mobo come on but nothing happens?

There is a red light on the bottom left of my mobo that stays on all the time but the PC will not post.

What is likely to be fubar'd in my system and what would you try to eliminate?

I have:

AMD X2 4800+
2x1gb Crucial Ballistix PC4000
8800 GTS
DFI SLI-DR
All watercooled

I was thinking of replacing or upgrading my PC anyway but was not sure which bits I'd benefit from replacing first? I do like the odd game but I'm not as serious as I once was...

I have the exact same problem!! I'm thinking its my PSU as have tried diff processor and ram. Praying its not my new graphics card or motherboard though!

hmmm, now it's getting to the stage where it posts and boots into windows but after a short length of time the power just turns off?

This is sounding more and more like the PSU is dying to me? What do you lot think?

I'm guessing I should get a new one before it blows?

I have checked the CPU temps and its not overheating and I get no error messages, so Im guessing its not RAM. Could the PSU just turn off becuase its getting faulty?

Btw, its an OCZ 720w PSU

Sounds like PSU to me too - worth making sure its defo the PSU by trying another PSU from a friends machine to make sure - although if it was me I'd probably go ahead and buy another one anyway.

ok, I have reset the cmos to no avail...

Can this be the PSU?

When I turn the power on the lights come on, the waterpump starts, all the fans on the mobo and case come on but it doesn't beep or post??

Occasionally it will start but it will then just turn off after a short period... what does it sound like? PSU issue?

I had the same issue with mine after building a new system. It worked fine for about five hours then after installing an update on windows 7 it refused to boot. All the lights were on but nobody was at home after a couple of phone calls with every one saying the same thingI changed the psu, pressed the button and hey presto it booted straight away. I was very relieved as I thought I might have killed it. If you are planning an upgrade soon get yourself a decent psu I didn't I bought a cheapy (it was all they had in stock) and it only lasted a month.

awesome, I assume PSU's just have a lifespan as mine is an OCZ Powerstream 600w which I know was great in its day...

I think I'll get a whole new system and PSU :)
