Hi All,
Having some problems with my computer and thought I'd see what you guys thought might be the issue(s).
Spec is;
Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 3.60GHz
Gigabyte X58a-UD3r mobo
Corsair 650w PSU
6gb of Corsair XMS3 DDR3 Ram
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024MB
Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred case
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II
Windows 7 64 bit edition
All my drivers are up to date afaik.
First and main problem at the moment is starting her up, if she has been off for a few hours pressing the power button will result in the fans and mobo lights coming on for anywhere between 2 and 10 seconds and then it all just shuts off as if you had pulled the plug out. It will then randomly turn itself on and off like this for a bit and then either start up or stay off until I press the button again. Eventually you get into the post screen and on to windows.
Sometimes its then fine (apart from the next problem below) but I have started either getting BSOD's, a total shutdown as if I'd pulled the plug or windows will just shut itself down. Other times I can sit on it for hours and it won't do it.
The other issue I'm pretty sure is the graphics card, starting up any game either full screen or windowed will cause both screens to go solid colours or with grided lines for 10 seconds or so then I get back to windows. This is getting worse though and I can't play anything fullscreen atm so I need to get the card replaced. It will also give me the little message about AMD drivers failing to work and it has successfully recovered about 2 out of 5 times when it does this.
I can't see that the GFX card issue would cause the random starting up/shutting down issues though ?
Its worth noting that I've had the PSU replaced already a while back (this was the original 'fix' for the graphics issue which didn't work!)
I've pulled every connector on the thing and plugged them back in to try and eliminate a dodgy/loose connection but this doesn't seem to make any difference to the starting up
Any assistance greatly appreciated !
