PC wont boot "CPU CHG" on mobo LCD.

Hey guys,

Just hooked up my old PC rig for the first time in a month or so of just sitting under a table, but its not working!

It has a ASUS CROSSHAIR Motherboard that has a LED debug that is reading "CPU CHG" that apparently means CPU Change according to the manual.....and that's the limit of the information!!??

I Power on, get a couple of beep, GPU starts up but no signal to the monitor, and the MOBO LED just sticks on "CPU CHG"

Any thoughts?

Sounds like it might need a bios update for the board to accept the cpu?

What cpu and which socket board is it?

CPU Type QuadCore AMD Phenom X4 Black Edition 9950, 2600 MHz (13 x 200)
MOBO Support AMD Socket AM2+/AM2 CPU

(was working a few weeks ago, and not changed any components out...? )

so......looks like I made things even worse, took out the CMOS battery to check that had not drained out (its fine) and now im getting "CMOS ERROR" even after using the onboard Reset CMOS button
