Hi guys, this post is on behalf of my mate.

His PC has been fine since we built it a few years ago, but a couple days ago this problem started and he hasn't managed to fix it yet and asked me to post on here for him.

What he says is happening is when he tries to turn the pc on, it makes all the noises you would expect it to make, but nothing actually shows up on the monitor. He says it stays blank and seems to be in sleep mode.

The pc spec is:

Asus p5q-e mobo. Geforce 9800gt gpu. 2.77 intel duo core cpu. 2x1 gb ocz plat ram. 500gb hdd.

Things he has tried to fix it:

Tried fitting different monitor, ram, and gpu from a working pc.

Cheers for any help

Could be a faulty motherboard or psu, can he try testing the psu in another system and cpu?

Was the pc overcloked and tried a CMOS reset - may of already be done.

Pc was not oc'd.

He should be able to test the psu in his bro's pc. I'll mention this and he can give it a go

Thanks for the reply, and any other things he could try will be a great help
