Pc won't boot with gtx 970 installed

yeah, think i agree with gregster on this now. I did have something similar myself with an alienware laptop. Exhibited same issues. No amount of driver swapping made a difference. Had to change the discreet gpu.
Is there no way of claiming on warranty even though bought 2nd hand from ebay.

Seems to be a reoccurring issue, are you still using the motherboard you had back in February?

HD 7950 not detected

pcie x16 slot dead?

gfx card is not recognised... sometimes. Help needed.

You're not wrong! I have had a lot of issues with my pc in the last year or so. Since I got my 970 a couple months ago everything seemed fine but you may be right. I guess they could all be related. Maybe it could be a psu problem after all. I might be able to use a friend's pc to test the card this afternoon. Only problem is he's got a 7970. Would putting the 970 in without changing the drivers just to see if it posts cause any major issues?
Oh and in answer to your original question yeah I'm still on my original asrock z77e.

Did you sell the 7950 on? I guess if it's still working with whoever else has it means the card wasn't the issue?

I'm not sure, I've always removed the drivers first and used Display Driver Uninstaller DDU, to make sure no crap is left behind before installing new drivers.

I take it this is your motherboard? >> http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77E-ITX/

I doubt this is the issue, because the issue is somewhat sporadic; is the motherboard BIOS up to date? >> http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77E-ITX/?cat=Download&os=BIOS

Yeah that's the right one nelly. The bios is up to date too. Did that when my 7950 was playing up (or not as the case may be). I sold my old card to a mate and it's working perfectly. It was when I sold it. Had been working fine for a couple months.

Quick update. Tried the gfx card in my friends pc (with ati drivers unfortunately) and it does exactly the same as when i boot my pc. Power goes on and then nothing. Its definitely not booting into windows but not displaying a signal. It must be the gfx card then.
