Pc won't boot with SSD.

Bought a Samsung SSD. Unpluged old hdd and connected it with the same connections. But it refuses to boot. Do I have to change anything inthe bios.??

Refuses to boot as in nothing happens after POST (i.e. motherboard beeps & on screen message)? Also give your computer's specs?

I'm assuming you've used the Samsung Magician software to clone your old HDD first?

change the sata ports from IDE to ACHI.

have you cloned your HDD to your SSD otherwise the PC is trying to boot from a empty SSD

Well you need to boot off OS install media then. The new SSD has no data on it.

I've set it to boot off the disc drive. But it won't let me reboot off the SSD

Not yet. Set bios to load from DVD. but just hangs in the bios when i try and boot from this.. When i connect the old HDD back to the same sata, and try to boot up. it boots up as normal. iv notice in my info start up it says for HDD and some thing else only.. could this be why it wont load up with the SDD connected..

Have you formatted it in disk management yet so windows can see it?

Nope. ive not changed anything in the bios. just refuses to boot with a ssd connected.

my mobos a SATA 2. could that have anything to do with it? says on info SATA 6Gb/s SSD

It should be backward compatible everything else seems to be.

both my ssds are connected to sata 2 and they are fine
