Just got home from work went to switch the pc on and nothing!!! It doesn’t even power up at all. Nothing what so ever. It was working fine last night.

I immediately thought PSU (it’s an enermax liberty 500W) so I tried it in another pc and it worked fine. So now I’ve ruled out PSU I’m thinking mobo (its a DS4).

What you guys think??

Just tried it with each stick of ram in by its self and still nothing :( . Unplugged all unnecessary stuff like DVD drive, USB headers and firewire headers, storage HDD, case fans, pci card and still nothing.

could be the fuse. Try replacing the fuse in the plug. Also, instead of powering on from the front panel button, try powering up by shorting the pins on the motherboard for the button or use the actual push button on the motherboard itself if you have one.

Just bridged out the power button pins on the mobo and nothing. My motherboard hasn’t got a push button on it, don’t think I’ve seen one that has.

And I’ve tried a different power lead and it still doesn’t work

Either the mobo is shorting (possibly touching the case?) or is borked completely. Also try replacing the battery, though.

It won't be the mobo battery.

You get absolutely nothing at all when you press the power button, right?

If so, it won't be CPU, RAM, or graphics, since these all produce beep codes (assuming you have your system speaker connected, or there's one mounted on the board).

Is there any kind of light on the main board to indicate power?

Is the main board power connector definitely in place? Even if it looks OK, try reconnecting it.

i took out the ram, gfx card, hdd all that was left in was the processor and case speaker. nothing again so i took out the processor and still no joy. So im thinking its the mobo. and the mobo power conector it all the way in

you recon i could just ring OC's and arange to take mobo in for testing?? as i only live about 40 mins away

£10+ petrol plus 2 hours of your time, or just over a fiver to mail it.

I know what I'd do.

I'd say, as a last resort, take the motherboard out the case and try booting it on a work surface or something.

Well took it back to OC's this morning and it look as if it needs to go back to the manufacture as I bought it on the 24th November didn’t realise it wasn’t OC's problem if it was over 28 days old :(

seems a common problem i had to take my ds3 back this morning they replaced as ive only had 2 weeks same problem come to switch on no power but while i was waiting they had 2 ds4's in for the same problem sounds like a gigabyte problem to me m8
