Something has died but I could use some help working out which bit.

When I turn it on

I get power to the PC, the power supply starts up and the cpu and motherboard fans start. I can also feel the hard drive spinning.

There are no flashing keyboard lights and no signal to the monitor so I dont think its posting.

Can anyone give me suggestions on where to start ? I have a spare cpu and graphics card I can try if just reseatin everything doesnt work.

First i would clear the CMOS. If that doesn't work i would take all but 1 stick of RAM out. If that doesn't work Try another stick of RAM on its own

Try another GFX card to rule that out straight away. Then try changing the ram, it doesn't sound like a motherboard issue tbh.

I had the same, it was a dead mobo.

Had it recently again but managed to get BiosBlock to restore the bios somehow...

Try unplugging everything except gfx, 1 stick of ram and cpu and see if you boot.

There are no beeps or keyboard lights. Its an MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum motherboard. Ive rest the bios with the jumper and swapped the graphics card but no joy yet.

What the PC do if the cpu was dead ?

Im pretty sure it wouldn't even get as far as you are getting. Try powering off and removing the power from the mains, hold down the ins key on your keyboard and then turn the power back on and switch it on. This sets the bios back to original settings I think.

I dunno if it was me doing this that caused it, but I kept hitting the power button repeatedly for about 10 secs and got a BIOS recovery screen earlier...
