Ok i just bought some new parts for my comp (motherboard, psu and video card) but now that ive put it all together my comp wont boot...

I rebuilt my old parts and my comp started fine so my cpu, hdd and optical drives should all be ok.

heres my 'new' spec

Processor:Core2Duo E6550 S775 2.33ghz4mb

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 Intel P43 (Socket 775)(link below)

PSU: Corsair TX Series 650watt (link below)

the only thing i can think of is that my psu or memory isnt compatitble with my new board but im pretty they are

Any ideas?? Thanks in advance :)

not trying to be rude but you wire the front panel connectors the right way round?

are you using the same power supply when testing your old rig?

sometimes the front usb ports being wired wrong can cause the PC not to boot:D

and erm you check if the mobo 4 pin plug in?

have you tried the new build again?

As for the dead ram, when i rebuilt my old setup all the ram worked fine so i can rule that out.

The front panel connectors may well be the wrong way round but im putting off re connecting them because their so awkard! :( Ill give it a go now although they are the same way round as my last motherboard and again that works ok.

Front USB's are not connected as i dont need them

4 pin connector is securely in

when testing my old rig it was with my old psu (480 watt) but ive tryed both old and new psu's on my new setup with no luck. Bought the new (600 watt) as i thought that was why it wasnt booting as my new video card is a beast ;)

Try it with one stick of RAM. The RAM itself may be working fine, but the board might need some voltages adjusting to get it to work with four sticks.

I have this problem on just about EVERY new build I ever put together lol. Usually it is to do with the RAM. On one of my builds, although it looked like the RAM was seated properly, it wasnt - so I had to give it a little bit more of a push to make sure that it was in.
On other builds I've done stupid thing like not seated the mobo on those little metal things that lift it a few millimetres so that the board does not short circuit.

Best of luck getting it to boot.

If using the old case, check that the new motherboard has the same position for the standoffs as the old one. It could just be a case of an extra standoff shorting out the new motherboard.

Thanks for all the help guys, managed to get it working late last night. Turns out my board cant support dual channel out of the box so i had to put memory into slots 1 and 2 instead of the normal 1 and 3!! Would never have thought to do this but by fluke saw it on a similar thread on another forum.

Not sure whether i need to replace the board or adjust the voltages as suggested by Mattus to get all 4 ram slots working Otherwise im stuck with only 2 slots!! :(

Do i do this in BIOS?
