pc wont boot

Hi my friend has been away and had his pc unplugged for a few weeks, now it wont boot, he says its asking for a disk, I presume its asking for a boot disk.

sorry dont know anymore info at the moment.

It was working fine beforehe went away, what could this be.

It may be looking at the wrong hard disc on boot, has he left any usb memory sticks in?

not sure hes gone away, i said ill have a look at it next week, was hoping I could get a few ideas to try.

Maybe needs another CMOS battery?
The BIOS may have defaulted to looking to boot from a DVD ROM/floppy?
Boot into BIOS and check the settings, if the clock needs resetting that's a dead giveaway.
