So moved components into a new case cleaned the dust etc.. and now my pc won't boot. Everything spins when I press the power button and stays on for a few seconds then goes back off, and just keeps turning itself on and off. Nothing even comes up on the screen! Only way to stop the cycle is to turn off the psu.

Any help or suggestions? I have everything out of the case now and tried connecting it all but still does the same thing. Early it booted and I thought I fixed it but when I tidied the case and closed everything and turned it on again it just did the same thing :(

Mate - I had this exact same thing the other day. I took my PC apart (was only built less than two months ago - my first self-build) to install a new mobo. When I turned it back on it would power up for a second, then power off and not respond to any additional button presses until I unplugged from the mains for a bit and let the charge drain from the mobo.

Now, I don't know 100% what the issue was - I took it all apart again and assembled it in a far more methodical fashion and it's fine now. But I THINK the issue was two of the screw holding bolt things (forgive my ignorance - can't recall the technical name) that you screw into the case and then screw the mobo onto. I couple of the old ones and lost their thread and were sitting there, both slightly frayed. I reckon one of them might have been shorting the board. Took them out and attached the mobo properly and the issue vanished.

Yea I know what you mean. Although I took it all out of the box and just set it up on top of the mb box and same thing happened. Might go out tomorrow and pick up a new mobo and send this one off to repair!

Tonight I will do some more extensive testing, try new ram resit the CPU and cooler. Unfortunately I have no spare psu but doubt that's at fault, definitely suspect the motherboard. Hope gigabyte RMA is decent.
