Over the last month I have had problems starting my pc. When I switch it on all the fans spin and all the lights on the mother board come on, basically everything happens but it does not post.

If I am lucky I switch it off, leave it for a few minutes and try turning it on again and it goes to POST screen. I have being leaving it on just to avoid this problem but this is not practical anymore.

I removed the Graphics card, sound card and RAM from the motherboard to see if one of those components could be causing the problem but the same issue occurs.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. My specs are below.

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8
Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II x2
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1

Cold start problems like this in my experience tend to either by the power supply, or the motherboard. I assume you have got the PC running at stock speeds (no overclock) to rule out any minor instabilities etc?

Yes I have not overclocked it yet. Thing is though when it does Post and gets running it works fine. It never suddenly switches off on me or crash. My only problem is when I am turning it on.

As soon as you get the PC to post, it will start to warm everything up (really quite quickly) and a lot of PSU and motherboard problems will simply go away.

The problem is getting progressively worse. It is taking longer to start up every time. I dont think its a problem I want to live with if it can be easily fixed tbh.

There are known cold boot problems with gigabyte boards, i get a little sometimes but just put it down to Corsair memory with gigabyte x58 boards. There are loads of cases floating about the net regarding cold boot issues from Gigabyte and its not just the x58 boards, for example http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=86889

Ive had the issue for well over a year, pretty much as i built the system and i just learnt to live with it knowing next when i upgrade it wont be with a GB board.

Gigabyte Motherboards have this problem. It happened to me last week. I'm not sure what I did to resolve the problem but I reset the CMOS and secondly removed the CMOS battery for 5 minutes and tried again and it worked.

Do you have internal speakers? Are there any beeps?
Visit: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/ for more specific help. Quite a few people have posted here with the same problems you're having, there could be a solution.

I dont have any internal speakers so I cant tell by the beeps. Also if I shut down the PC after a few hours use then restart it the same problem occurs, so I think its more than a cold boot issue.

it wont post if you remove the ram anyway, Usually you get a rather Anooying BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP
