Hi all hope all is well!

I basically upgraded from an i5 760 to a i5 3570k with a gigabyte z77x d3h mobo and the pc will not boot up Properly.

To reformat the hard drive I basically have to unplug the hard drive for me to get into the windows area to format the drive and then re plug the hard drive in when I want to click "format".

Once the hard drive has been formatted the pc runs completely fine . However, if I was to restart the pc it won't let me go into bios when pressing delete and when I have the option to either "repair windows" or "load windows normally ' my keyboard won't work when clicking the command! But when it does go through the process of repairing windows it does not complete and just fails!

I'm starting to wonder if my hard drive is not compatible? It is a seagate barracuda 500 gb. Also to mention my old windows cd serial is now not working due to me updating my mobo but I luckily had a spare windows dick and serial!

I will really appreciate if anyone can help me!

It may be because it's late but I don't get that bit.

Have you done a fresh installation of Windows since you've changed the motherboard and CPU and installed all the necessary drivers?

What version of Windows are you using?

Hi thx for helping! I did a fresh reinstall of windows but no updates apart from bios. I just can't get my head round it!it doesn't let me get to the install windows section unless if I first unplug the hard drive and re plug it when I'm in install windows section!

I'm using windows 7

lol, had to laugh at that;)
Anyway, not sure if all motherboards are the same these days but 'del' when booting is the usual method to get to bios, however on my laptop it's f2, maybe try that, it usually says on the bottom of the screen when booting.

Lol I know it sounds funny that I had a spare disk haha... Another story :p

But yeah I tried all buttons it says del at bottom to access bios . But after i Installed new mobo I can't click anything when on boot, at the moment it is stuck on either repair windows or load windows normally and I can't click neither if them !

Did you format the drive as part of the installation process?

Try a different keyboard or try plugging the keyboard into a different USB port (don't use USB 3.0).

You could also try a USB to PS/2 adapter if you have one.

Enable legacy in bios. Aka load optimized defaults. Also with that mobo when installing I found only.the left two USB ports worked during installation

Hey guys just an update!

Want to say thank you to you guys for lending me your time as i have now managed to fix the problem. I plugged in an old dell keyboard that uses a sp/2 adapter instead of a usb.

By the looks of things usb keyboard and mouse only works pass the boot screen. When the pc is booting they seem not to work and the keyboard only works with the use of the sp/2 keyboard :|
