I have a Phenom 9850BE, and I am waiting for a Gigabyte mobo to be delievered.
I would like some advice on which brand of PC8500 to buy.
I am not into overclocking, but I do not want to have to change voltages to get it to run either.
I know Intel are better but in all my builds I have used AMD and I am sticking with them.
On Googling about memory I have found that you need to alter the voltages to get some memory working properly, and as I have never done that I would prefer some advice from you knowledgable people.
I am looking for either 2 X 2gb or 4 X 1GB, whichever is the best value.

Go for 2x2gb. It's starting to be the sensible option for 4gb.

And you'll almost certainly have to up the memory voltage for any PC8500.

Cheers for your answers, after reading your first post I did a bit of research and found most 8500 ram needs 2.2v.
So shortly I shall be back for advice on how to do that. :)

check the description on the ram you are after, some is automatically set by SPD so you don't have to do the adjustments yourself assuming you have the correct chipset.

both my gskill 8500 2gbpk sets will do 583mhz 5-5-4-15 with 2.0v, so i would say its a fair bet it can do 533 5-5-5-15 with 1.8v. defaults to 4-4-4-12 @ 1.8v @400 mhz, which also runs fine
