PCGH asks Nvidia on Gameworks

iirc borderlands 2 was supposed to be a 3d vision title but it never materialised - far from a game breaker tbh.

Sorry, what is wrong with the ones you've listed besides Ubisoft? Whom obviously quite frankly have difficulty doing anything nicely on the PC platform when it comes to optimisation?

I certainly had no issues with Ghosts or Borderlands 2. I'm all for proving a point and I'd agree there are obviously games that have come out of NV's umbrella sub par, but I think you're just throwing games in there willy nilly.

Borderlands 2 had a broken PhysX implementation that is to this day not fixed. Call of duty may not be as much a problem with nvidia as its an issue with the devs themselves but none the less its a TWIMTBP title, having issues with SLI texture Flickering, that whole 6gb ram requirement that i think got patched at a later date. Not the worse but still counts in my book. Rage also had major issues like major texture pop in so to name one.

ubisoft might be awful in terms of PC, but exactly what are Nvidia dev's doing. They pay Ubisoft, they are all gameworks titles, they are the most closely partnered game dev with nvidia these days...... yet all their games are rubbish?

Nvidia is involved for ages and would have seen early builds without all the pretty stuff disabled, and they said and did nothing as Ubisoft disabled it all? Precisely how is that their developers let that go, said nothing, how are they not fighting the dev's considering the massive financial investment?

Could you please enlighten me to why you think that?

About what? rage?

Issues on nVidia cards weren't for lack of effort on nVidia's part, look at how much more broken it was on AMD who relatively speaking put a lot less effort into supporting it - much of the problems outside of AMD's poor support for certain standards rest at id's feet.

Thats quite a good point actually. I'd like to see how much input nvidia has with a TWIMTBP title, especially when it comes to Ubisoft. They make decent games, but they honestly have the worst quality control out of all major games companies.

i dont see what nvidia can do exactly, the investement isn't massive, must be few hundred thousands dollars up to a million dollar, for a game that cost 65mil.
beside most devs that take these kind of contracts they do it for the extra money, i hardly see a dev take money for using gameworks, then pays nvidia back the money to see the source code, kinda funny when you think about it.
the publisher dont give a crp if gameworks slows the game, and they dont want to put resources into code to sort it out, they take the dll that nvidia give them and they use it, thats about it.
and nvidia ask the devs what effects they want they bake one and give them the dll.

maybe for nvidia users, to me physx was completly broken on AMD

Well, its an Nvidia owned technology thats not licenced to AMD. Its only ever worked for AMD users if they had a cheap nvidia card for dedicated PhysX running along side it, but I dont think thats even possible anymore.

PhysX at least in Batman AA was a bit of a joke though the steam/smoke effect was nice. Lots of physics effects didn't interact with other physics effects so you'd have particle physics that just went through things, etc. :| there was like 1 room near the start and a corridor later on that had a little more detailed used of physics effects and largely the rest of the game it was forgotten about.

How is it. that when there are issues with a Nvidia sponsored game, it is Nvidia fault and yet when we mention the issues with BF4, its dices fault not AMD's

Because there are actually support evidence for that? And I don't exactly recall people finger-pointing between Dice and AMD, but just an topic that was about investigating the issue and who might be responsible.

Some people on the other hand seem to quite happily putting all blames on Ubisoft claiming Nvidia is not responsible in any way :p

But i didnt talk about AMD and what they can/cannot or want to do. I just wanted to point out that the phrase and i quote here "NVidia somehow always manage to work with developers to optimise games to work well with their cards" is clearly wrong. Even if you dismiss Rage as an example doesnt make the rest of the horrible TWIMTBP titles go away. Im not saying nvidia is doing a worse job than AMD as im not even comparing them to eachother.. Couldnt care less about this fanboy war thats going on at the moment. I just dont care for false information either and as such i will comment on what i find and believe to be false and try to correct it through arguments. Nothing more.

Soory ,whats broken with phsyx in batman?

Edit
Sorry needed more coffee,, Whats broken about the physx in Borderlands 2?
Thats okay :). It runs much slower than its suppose to. Not even a dedicated Titan will do much good for the physx in that game. The framerate goes bananas when using medium or high physx settings with stuttering issues on top of that. The second you turn physx to low(which is basicly off) everything seems to work as it should.

yes but it doesnt have to be crap, they work on intel's havoc physx when it's working well then they work on nvidia's physx, but instead they worked on nvidia's and left the rest with broken physx, could be nvidia who is paying them to do this, or could be just lazy, run out of time or resources, whatever it was it sucked.

1440p everything set to max High physx 66-120 aprox fps on a 1200 core 780 no stuttering atm, 66 is lowest i ever recall it going in the middle in of a boss fight,, maybe it was fixed driver/game patch?
Never tryed it at launch only picked it up in the steam sale

Batman PhysX and Borderlands 2 PhysX work very well for me and not seen any drops in frames. I don't generally run a fps counter but I can always feel if there is a drop in frames.
