I have a Asus motherboard with 2x pci-express 16x slots and i am looking at buying a new graphics card that supports pci-e 2.0 will this still work on my board.

2.0 runs faster than the old version but it won't make too much of a differnces

nope, not really. your looking at what one or two frame rates more if that, I m only giving a rough esitmate but even if it was going to give 5 more frame rates still don't justify the cost

Unless you are using something like a 4870X2 or a GTX295, then the bandwidth offered by pci-e 1.0 16x will be sufficient.

what i dont get is if it uses pci-e 2.0 and i have pci-e 16x surely the card will run at half speed or something . i dont know much about pci-e 2.0

PCI-E 2.0 doubles the avilable band width but the only cards that will use the extra bandwisth atm are the GTX 295 and 4870x2 and thats only using like 10% of the extra bandwidth.
