PCI-E 5 worth it?

Recently purchased a 5070 ti, and I currently have a PCI-E 4 motherboard.

So my question is would my graphics card get any significant performance increase by upgrading my motherboard to PCI-E 5?

I've got 2 pcie 5 PCs 5070Ti/9070XT and a pcie 4 pc with a sapphire pure 9070XT and no, no noticeable difference.

Not worth it to upgrade your motherboard no.

Especially as you would probably need DDR5 memory for your new motherboard too which is currently very expensive.

If you are going to do it in the long run just plan it with a CPU upgrade and after memory prices have calmed down.

Where you should see an improvement is when you have a high-bandwidth card in the other x8 slot. Say a high-speed NIC or a second GPU.

When I moved from an b550 (x4 16) to an x670 (x5 16) a few months ago, I did a few runs to look for any difference with a 9800x3d and 5090. There was indeed a 1% difference in the 5-6 games I tested.

The only reason to move to an X5 board is if that board offers other features you'll use. For me, this was an extra m.2 slot, extra USB ports, and better network card.

Yes the cards over 8GB follow the classic rules of PCI-E that being within 2 gens of the latest is fine.
