I've just aquired a 7900GT gfx card and upon putting it into the PCI-E x16 slot I don't appear to be able to get a display. My PSU is 500W and I am running 2 IDE HDU's, 1 DVDRW and the obligatory floppy drive. Anyone be able to help me with what to check before throwing the card in the bin.

Thx, DJ.

Any beeps on the motherboard?
Is the hard disk activity light showing?
Is the fan on the graphics card going round?
Have you tried the other DVI/VGA port?
Is everything else on the PC powering up as it should?

Also, stating the actual specs of your PSU would be helpful as not all 500w PSU's are the same, some are like having explosive hamsters running in a wheel to generate the power.
