PCI-E help - PCI-E card not working

When I change the 'Initial first display' from AUTO to 'PEG' and then change the connector to the PCI-E DVI connector, my monitor goes to sleep.

When I go back into the BIOS to look at the settings, the setting has gone back to AUTO.

The strange thing is, the BIOS allowed me to set the time and date and it's kept those settings, its just this one thing its not remembering or doing.

Make sence?

Disable the onboard graphics. Connect the monitor to the graphics card. If the on board graphics are still enabled it can get a bit cranky.

I've tried to do this. It ended up me having to reset the CMOS as I got no display at all!

How about enabling the PEG as initial first display AS well as disabling onboard graphics?

I've a few options to try out and will report back later on tonight.

Guys,

Is it possible that there are any 'write protect' switches in the Motherboards BIOS that I've not changed, to stop people fiddling and screwing things up?

Thanks

Having now had a new home PC for over 7 years, let alone building my own one for more than 7, you guys will understand my concern and slight doubt in my confidence with this issue.

Tonight I have confirmed that 'I still got it' and it was indeed a Dead on Arrival Card that is at fault.

I've tried two alternative PCI-E graphics cards, on with additional power needed and one not requiring additional power and both have worked flawlessly.

Suffice to say, I have to begin the dreary returns process with our favorite competitor! Shoulda bought from OcUK!
