Yeh thats what I was thinking.

Would prefer motherboard manufactures to stop putting loads of PCIe slots on boards when everything except graphics cards still uses PCI in all but a few cases.

you're right, it is a start, but i cant see the point in a x-fi that doesnt have hardware acceleration. A gaming card.....thats no good for gaming. xtreme music for the loose.

Only buy the x-fi Audio if your only going to be listening to music. For music its a great bargain to be had.
