PCI-E X-Fi is here!

Sure you don't mean this much? :p

Seriously though, PCI-E sound is promising so far. I just hope for some reason it can reduce the multitude of problems X-Fi has

doesnt come in pci-e form though, which was the point of the review :)

Still, if they do get pci-e versions of the othe cards out the door they are already sitting on a winner :D

Actually, from an end-user point of view, i'd prioritise the Vista drivers. ;)

i'm just about to buy a sound card. deliberating between this and the Extreme Music.

will be used for both games and music.

votes please??

It is a low end card and I'm not sure how it will be on the PCI-E bus as of the latency issues they mentioned before, the Extreme Music is a good card and I used to have one, its far higher spec to.

Dude, i just gave the card a good going over and i mentioned nothing of the sort, there is no latency problems or any problems at all.

Xtreme music, will be better in games with eax5 and full hardware apu

I'm talking about Creative public comments while back about the problems with latency for a soundcard on the PCI-E bus and it would be better when PCI-E 2.0 is here.
I bet you thats why that 1st PCI-E card is low end and you wont see a high end one on the PCI-E bus, the new mobos are just about here with PCI-E 2.0 (infact Biostar have 1 out), I think you will see top cards soon like the promised X-FI 2, but using the PCI-E 2.0 bus.

I already have the leaked software/apps for the X-FI 2 but have so far not bothered to install them. (had for months)

I've err'd on the side of caution and quality and opted for the Xtreme music.

I've had headaches in the past adopting technology too early (including vista).

I'll pay the extra and know i've got a slightly better quality component that's got an established history.

Going by the review by lay z boy i'm sure the audio differences will be too small for me to notice.

cheers for the info peeps

Yeh thats what I was thinking.

Would prefer motherboard manufactures to stop putting loads of PCIe slots on boards when everything except graphics cards still uses PCI in all but a few cases.
Actually back in the days when I had a Shuttle I would have killed for a PCI-E version of the Creative soundcard :p
