PCI-E x1

I have seen a Galaxy 7300GT DDR3 card available with the PCI-E x1 interface but not sure where tog et them.

Does it have to be PCI-E 1x, do you not have a x16 slot?

945GZ supports all pci-express x16 cards. However, the slot is only electronically x4. Depending on the manufacturer you will have to change the jumpers so that onboard video is disabled and the pci-express lanes are changed.

The motherboard supports either 2 slots which are x1 or a single x4 slot.

Dont ask me why i had such a rubbish motherboard.

Asrock boards often have 4x pci-e slots. 16x cards will still work in them :) (I have a 3870 working in mine :) ).

The same should be true for you.

A custom 945GZ board with no pci-e x4 slot. Why do you want to buy a graphics card for that anyway. They would only put that motherboard inside a business desktop.

edit:

As this shows the 945gz chipset should support at least 4 pci-e lanes. HP have simply reduced costs by removing something that office desktops really dont need. Well they've asked foxconn to remove them.

The sad thing is that its for home use and not purchased by me. In vain I was hoping there was a graphics card out there that would do the business.. :-(

The motherboard may not even recognise a graphics card put in the pci or pci-e slots.
