Ok guys,

Pretty basic question really, to upgrade to a PCI-Express system what stuff needs upgrading?

Im guessing, the Motherboard, Graphics Card and Power supply?
Does the CPU?

Thanks everyone, and how much performance gain do you gain from an average PCI-E system compared to an AGP?
Thanks a lot! :)

Correct, the only time you'll need to change CPU is if you have a different socket match. e.g. If you have an AGP socket 939 system, you can keep the 939 CPU and change the mobo for a pci-express one.

It all depends on the equivilant of the AGP system you have. If you had an AGP 6800GT and then moved to a current pci-express 7900GT, that would be a huge difference.

if you moved from an AGP 6800GT to a PCIE 6800GT theres bugger all difference. the main reason being that you can get better cards like 7900gt etc on PCIE. :)
