Behind you... Naked!
I am looking to add a SATA Card that just acts like a dummy card, to allow me to add a couple of HDs without it being in the ruddy way.

I got SATA Raid cards, they work perfectly well, dont get me wrong, but I just want them to see the drives and thats it! - none of this garbage about RAID or anything, I just want them to act like dummy cards allowing nothign more than to let me add more HDs.

It seems to me, that as all my motherboards these days, allow RAID on SATA this and that, as well as IDE the other, and with 2 IDE controlers and 2 SATA Controlers as well as a PCI one, I have 5 different HD Controlers and its getting annoying all the time, especailyl when a couple of my PCs see my drives in backward order so the HDs are seen like this

E: - F: - C: - D:

And its worse when I have more than one partition per drive, I get

E: - G: - F: - H: - C: - I: - D: - J:

EH?

So, a dummy SATA Card would probably cure it... It does cure it with dummy IDE Cards, I have an ITE8212 IDE card which is just nice, and it NEVER puts the drives on that card first, while the SATA ones always come first, its annoying.

Anyone know what the hell I am talking about?

Oh no, the Sata Card I am using, does work just fine.

I cant moan at it for how it works.

It still works if I ignore it when it finds the drives and they are indeed accessed as normal standard drives.

The thing is, like I said, that the Mobo has onboard RAID with its IDE and Both SATA controlers, and this coupled with the PCI Cards Sata Raid controler, makes 4 SATA controlers!!!!

Yes, I can use the Motherboard to control all the drives if I wanted RAID, and I have had a piddle about with this, and sure enough, its great, but I dont want it on the PC inquestion.

There is the issue of some warning message coming up too, and this should not happen with a stock SATA controler, or at least I am hoping it wont.

The Card I am using is a SIL3112 and the Mobo here is an MSI Neo2 Platinum
