I've just got the HIS X1950 pro but don't have the necessary 6 pin plug on my PSU.
A friend has given me an adapter, but it only has 3 wires supplying the 6 pin.

It's 2 molexes joined together with 3 wires coming from one of them to the 6 pin.

I was going to just plug it in and see what happened, but thought I'd better ask here first as to whether it's 'safe'..

A little research led me to believe that this adapter is from an X800/X850 card.

What do you guys think.

Cheers

Steve

Welcome to the forums. :)

Will be fine if its one of these , be carefull though as loads of ppl have had problems with the adapters not fitting into the HIS cards, you may have to file it down if it doesn't go in properly.

Erm no the one i have has from the molex side, 2 black and 1 yellow, and the other molex has the same, then in the 6 pin one at the top has 4 black into 3 holes and bottom bit has 2 yellow on the sides and bottom middle is empty.

Like so.

Tho i have no idea why these have 3 yellow cables.

I think there was some like that come to think of it, one molex connects to your PSU, and one goes into your HardDrive, then the 6x pin goes into your graphics card, used to be like that when i had an x800 now i remember, can't see why it wouldn't work though, as im sure im using the same on my x1800 XT, and if thats getting powered fine then i can't see the x1950 pro struggling as it needs a lot less power. :)

Yeah i have a agp x1950 coming tomorrow and the above is what i bought seperatly for the card. Its the 1st pic out of the 2 i posted but the end isnt black its just normal seethrough white plastic.

EDIT : just been informed that it came with a Saphire X1950 pro, so should be ok.

Ahh yeah thats the one, i do remember now, it connects to your PSU, and can also connect to your HardDrive so you can power that as well, or something else. :)

I remember on my old x800 XT PE AGP cable was like that, but it was a molex instead of the 6x pin, so it connected to your PSU, then a 4x pin molex went into your hardDrive, and the other 4x pin molex went into your card, thats just the same but has a 6x Pin for a PCI-E graphics card instead. :)
