I recieved a PDN on monday night while at work, I was parked in a loading bay. Same as this one
loading_only.gif

The ticket was issued at 19:27 and the area where I was parked is not busy at that time, infact all shops around the area are closed by 18:00.

The sign it self did not have anything on it stating when loading times where.
Do I have any chance at an appeal?

what exactly does the ticket say

sounds like if theres no time resctriction you've been done for parking in an area reserved for loading

You'd have to try and contest you were only there for a minute or two as you were loading, which presumably you werent because you parked there and went to work.

Ticket says "Parked in a loading place during restricted hours without loading" although is does not say anything in the area about restricted hours. and work is over the road.

presumably the "restricted hours" in that case are 24/7

I doubt you'll get off, but you could try the argument that were you loading and give your work adress as over the road ?

'During restricted hours' which in this case is 24/7. I don't think you have anything to argue about? You knowingly parked there and got a ticket.

every where ive looked online says "Loading bays are white bays marked with the words ‘Loading only’ and a sign with the white on blue trolley symbol. A sign will show the times when the bay can be used and whether loading and unloading is restricted to certain types of goods vehicles."

There was story on watchdog or similar show months ago about one such loading area, and the rules around it were as follows:

You could only park for 30mins iirc or maybe 1 hour, but you had to start loading within 10 mins of parking up.

Even tho you could park for 30 - 60 mins you can still get a ticket after 10 mins without loading.

You could try contesting it, but the chances are they will win because they want your money and don't have the common sence to let it go on the grounds the shops are closed.

Yes but it never gives you a sign if its 24/7 - it simply applies all the time unless otherwise stated?

Surely you read the highway code before you passed your test?

That was over four years ago I cant, and I dont think many people will, remember all of the highway code.

the highway code says "If no times or days are shown it may be used at any time." so im guessing that means loading at anytime, if so i'll just pay it and remember for next time.

EDIT:
Just found the answer I was looking for on http://www.ticketfighter.co.uk/views.htm about a third of the way down it says about restricted hours, and the answer given says

"There is usually hours such as 8-6:30pm during which the loading bay will operate and outside this time its free to park in. If there are no hours then that means it operates 24 hours so its restricted at all times."

I'll just pay it in the morning, thanks for the replies.

Hijacked!

Got a parking ticket a week ago in my own area and I'm a resident permit holder. They are doing emergency roadworks in my neighbourhood and they've occupied 15 bays. Residents have been creating their own bays overnight/parking single yellow (9am-5pm) and obviously moving them in the morning.

I parked on a single yellow one day and didn't get a ticket. The following night I came home and I was forced to park on the single yellow again (as with other cars). Woke up 6am, had a look around the neighbourhood and it was still packed, so left for work. Came home and was issued a ticket at 9:11am: "Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours".

I've appealed, but do I have grounds to? It's common sense that I was forced to park there because our neighbourhood were a good 15 bays short. In hindsight I could've just parked in another neighbourhood but I really don't trust my car there (dodgy area).

Personal choice = Not forced

So pay it?
