PCPer chat with Tom Peterson (NVidia) about G-Sync and what is coming for it, the 980Ti and a brand new DX12 tech demo.

Going live in roughly an hour, so for those interested, watch away :)

http://www.pcper.com/live/

8pm UK time :)

Info to follow here:

Talking about the 980Ti at the moment and how GPU boost 2.0 works and how to overclock with EVGA PX

Why is there no backplate? The answer is thermal limitations on the card when running SLI. For a single card user, this doesn't help.

Now talking DX12

Obviously all bigging up what NVidia can do and Tom is not going to talk about the levels and tiers :D

Now showing the DX12 demo with the mech

Tom just said that the demo is DX12_1 but they are waiting before confirming that.

And now onto GameWorks VR:

Discussing how VR GameWorks makes the job easier for devs to stop the fisheye effect that you get with VR

NVidia saying that VR is very important to them and something they are pushing hard on.

Now G-Sync

Explaining why G-Sync doesn't suffer from ghosting like other techs do

G-Sync overdrive

New features of G-Sync is windowed mode (G-Sync works while in windowed (handy)

Another option is to have settings for ULMB per game or G-Sync per game.

And finally, you can enable G-Sync to turn off after the screens refresh rate, so if you are hitting 150 fps on a 144Hz monitor, G-Sync switches off to allow higher frames.

Laptops and G-Sync now Zzzzzz :D

New G-Sync monitors coming

Will give this a watch if I remember in half hours time, I like Tom Peterson, comes across as very sincere.

Could we get some of the main points of the video in the OP please Greg? I'm on holiday and the wifi or mobile internet isn't fast enough for videos :( so if anyone was nice enough to mention the important stuff frm the video and it put in OP it would be much appreciated and also helpful to other peeps :)

Will do. I am curious about G-Sync and the new DX12 demo, so will be glued to this. Hopefully it isn't just about HDMI and G-SYnc.

Ooops. Bit of a typo in the description. :p

Even thought it's a week after official release, we are hosting a live stream from the PC Perspective offices with NVIDIA's Tom Petersen to discuss the new GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card as well as the changes and updates the company has made to the G-Sync brand. Why would NVIDIA undercut the GTX TITNA X by such a wide margin? Are they worried about AMD's Fiji GPU? Now that we are seeing new form factors and screen types of G-Sync monitors, will prices come down? How does G-Sync for notebooks work without a module?

Its nice to see a gaming scientist disgruntled engineer who actually knows their way around their GPUs, tweaks, games, etc. heh.

Well, proprietary be damned, am now buying into nvidia for a long time, so looking forward to Gsync news as will go that route once the right monitor comes along :)

"we dont see the point in using hdmi with gsync because vr headsets wont use hdmi"
thats such a crazy thing to say lol
grrr
