Posted something similar about this before, just looking for some help.

3 pcs out of 40 that I helped build are experiencing the same problems. The pc will turn on, but no monitor, no post beep, and the graphics fan on full. Sometimes reseating the processor cures it, sometimes replacing the RAM, sometimes clearing the bios. But it keeps coming back again.

I had the pc working for over 20 mins, kept turning it on and off with no problems, as soon as i lifted it off its side and plugged everything in again it went faulty again. Does anyone know whats going on?

Thing is though, The first pc that was doing this i assumed the same, but put a different processor in it. Its been working fine ever since. But how can a processor be only half faulty?

It can be ;-). same as every other component - GPU might be working but can give u artifacts, ram can work but can work but can give you errors.
You must understand the difference between faulty and dead.

Is the CPU you tried the same ? or at least similar speed ? It might be BIOS issue so you can try flashing it to the newest BIOS.

All the components in all of the machines are the same.

8200 core2duo
8800GTX
2GB dominator RAM
all gigabyte motherboards, same version, so if it was a bios problem it would be the same on them all, but its only 3 out of 40

The other problem is, if they are sent back as faulty, what if they test them and they happen to work for them like its doing to me, they won't accept them back.

Ive had the above happen with a car audio company. Bought a headunit with usb interface, wouldnt work for me, i tried everything possible.. nothing. sent it back to get sorted and they claimed for it to be "fine" and wanted me to pay £25 for their engineer looking at it, it cost me £10 to post it there and they wanted similar to post it back. That would have been £45, and id of got the same piece of crap back off them - so i ignored them and left the crap with them.

Something you need to be really careful of to be honest, if you can figure out what the problem is for sure and take the components to ocuk personally you would be much better off imo
