PDA/Phone Advice...

Hiya all,

Thinking of looking into a bit of an all round solution and hoping you guys can help.

Basically need a Mobile Phone, with a decent computer side to it.

ideally :-

Bluetooth
Wireless
nice sized screen ( 3x2" or so? )
comes with a belt pack of some type - I expect to use a bluetooth headset for for phone calls.
IM support
E:mail support

Be nice if it had the capability for an on screen keyboard.

Now I know these aren't going to be in a normal phone sized package, hence the bluetooth side, and don't even know if such a device exists.. hence turning to you guys

Yep, will do msn and I'm sure you can get something to do yahoo.

But on the phone front if you going to be using it as a pda then I would go for an MDA pro, as its a lot faster and got 3G so will be fast net access. I would get it on one of t-mabile Web and walk tariffs with that you get unlimeted web for £7.50 a month, and with it being 3G its almost as fast as broadband.

Thanks - been looking around and the Orange SPV M5000 Looks interesting too although perhaps a bit big, the slid keyboard on the Vario is nicer IMO.

hehe thanks, looking a toss up between the XGA Exec and the XDA Mini S ( to use the names on that site ). If the Mini-S will do everything I want it's favourite due to being cheaper.. the Exec is damned nice though. Reminds me of the old Psion Palmtop/PDA's.

I have the Imate Jam and the XDA Exec.
I am waiting for the Vario 2 - it is the bees knees. Due out in a month or two and I'll be getting it on T-Mobile for the uber cheap data rates, unlimited £7.50 per month.
If however you want a larger screen go for the Exec (MDA Pro). My only caveat is the battery life on these devices is not that great especially when using Bluetooth, Wifi etc.

I think the vario 2 is the perfect blend of size and features, next best has to be the MDA pro.

Tbh bluetooth uses hardly any power, its only wifi that is a major drain, you can buy triple capacity batteries for them though 3600mah.

Mmm if I read that right the Vario 2 will have 3G which was about the only major difference in terms of features between the other two...

Plus somehow it just looks better too.

Vario 2 would be perfect if it had a VGA screen... but even with just a QVGA screen it seems to be a winner. Can't have everything, I guess...

Vga doesnt seem to make a difference to me apart from watching videos tbh, it doesnt do anything for internet browsing either like many people claim it does. It makes things look a little sharper but I wouldnt use it as a deciding factor unless thats the only difference between the two.

yeah but the slide keyboard seems more useable to me.
