Alright all,

my mate has got a rubbish pc and does not want to spend loads on somthing new.
I have found him the best spec stuff that he can afford but if he was to buy it, how long at a real stretch would it last from now, I mean to run games not at highest spec but to run them.

Intel core 2 quad Q8400 2.66
Kingston 2x2gb 1066 hyperX
ATI 5770 1gb

He has all the other bits but this spec is as high as he can fit with what he has,
Is it worth doing?

Cheers

Adam

Im not completly sure on the mobo but I think it is a socket 775 and his cpu is intel celeron, gpu is radeon 256 an old one, again not totally sure on the exact specs.
Any idea's?.

Cheers

Is it possible to stretch to a GTX460 instead of the 5770?

That would give you pretty much what I've got and I've yet to find anything it can't manage (except Crysis at 1080). I can run Just Cause 2 with all the fancy stuff turned on at 1080p with no trouble.

Just because it's a 775 mobo does'nt mean that it will take a 45nm cpu. You need to find out exactly what he has before you start recommending parts for him.

He don't even want to spend this he is so tight im trying to get him to so he doesn't waste his money on what he was going to get first. So it has to be this or less. The main question is if he was to do this could he drain every last months worth out of it how long from today would it last before he could not run games anymore I mean this guy bought his pc like 4 years ago and has not touched it and wants to do the same again.
