Plugged my pendrive in and got 'device not recognized'. Tried it on another PC, tried disabling USB 2, tried other pendrives in same ports and they worked.

Doesnt show in disc managment. Any magic fixes, or is it dead now?

I've sometimes managed to save them by forcibly writing zeros to the entire drive then reformatting.

They definitely die though, I've been through half a dozen or so.

mine died a few months back , it refused to be recognised in any port even thou other drives were ..... used a prog like hdtune for pendrives and its back to normal now ...il try and remember the prog used and post it up..

Flash drives have limited life, too many read/write cycles and unfortunately they die. Had a few fail on me now.

Now i just use a 2.5" sata notebook drive in a 2.5" enclosure. Costs more, and heavier/ chunkier to carry around but probably cheaper in the long run, larger, quicker and will last a lot longer (providing you dont drop it).
