Friday night, don't know if many others stayed up, but Pendulum cast a live webstream from Matter, London to preview a Work In Progress Preview of their upcoming Album 'Immersion' in May this year.

After In Silico, I kind of lost interest in Pendulum when they became mainstream and slightly 'cheesy' as a result of an annoying synth preset and the overused standard D'n'B beat. I wasn't sure what to expect last night...whether they'd continue on the mainstream route, or go back to the old 'Hold Your Colour' days. Well what they brought really was a surprise! Some of the tracks, dare I say it, sounded a bit mau5y! (Don't kill me!)

With newly introduced dirty underground dubstep, house, trance, and filthy electro, along with a few of their regular D'n'B tracks (in good balance! and i thoroughly enjoyed them) it was just incredible!! Rob Swire is an absolute genious and has completely won me over again and I will be purchasing the new album without doubt when it comes out in May.

This concert is REALLY worth a listen, there songs have evolved into what their original audience wants IMO. The concert has been uploaded to YouTube in 12 parts. I have watched the whole gig again it was so good.

Starts here

Enjoy! :D

It's not going to be hard to realease something better than In Silico. They set the bar extremely low with that one.

Some of those tunes do sound a little better, though I wish Rob Swire would realise he sounds like a whiney 14 year old and just stop singing completely.

Also, as it was a dj set, many of the tunes were either other artists or old Pendulum tunes.

(Thanks for posting this though)

I can't wait for the new album, In Silico took a long time for me to get into but I still like it. Also the Celldweller remix of Propane Nightmares is just immense.

I heard from someone who went on the night, Pendulum were a bit underwhelming, especially compared to Sub Focus who was apparently phenomenal on the night.

Pendulum and underground dubstep? Doesn't make sense :p

I lost interest in Pendulum after Hold Your Colour personally, and when I saw them play the support played a much better set D:

After loving Pendulum, then liking them, then the meh stage, my tune hasn't changed, and neither has theirs.

I still like Pendulum, but this sounds the same as 90% of their other tracks.

Thats because it is, I fail to see any dubstep, house, electro influences in this ... All the same as before :(

I was at Matter for this, Pendulum were ok. Subfocus on the other hand was awesome, in terms of drum and bass, it was pretty commercial stuff, but I really enjoyed it. One of the best sets I have heard in a long time. I have some good vids that I will be putting up soon :)

They played some new stuff and remixes last year at V. The remixes were awesome but totally the new stuff was totally awesome!

Cue all the 'music critics' on their high horses about Pendulum now being **** and mainstream.

Because everyone knows you're not allowed to like mainstream music...

I personally am really looking forward to the new album.

Any better links to this? Just audio preferably and not such naff live recorded from a mobile phone sound quality.

The youtube is a copy of the live webcast from Pendulum's website, presumably taken straight from the mixing desk. I doubt there will be a better recording.

What are you on about? No one said they were crap just because they're 'mainstream', it just happens that crap is more accessible to those who only listen to 'mainstream'.

I was a fan of theirs for years, they started knocking out bland, paint by numbers DnB so I stopped listening, as did many other DnB fans. Coincidentaly at about that time in their musical careers, Radio 1 and lots of teenage kids suddenly started liking them, whereas their previous style hadn't appealed.

This technically makes them 'mainstream', but it's their music that turned fans off, not their popularity rating in Smash Hits magazine.
